As far as my mindless weekend fun tv show goes, I enjoyed this.
As far as one of my favorite fandoms goes, I am pissed. I was hoping they would actually make the Orion arc a season-long thing, because dang that's good story fodder, but I knew they'd only keep it around for a few episodes. I just wasn't prepared for how horribly they'd handle it. They took the absolutely cheapest road out, and somehow during the course of three entire episodes managed to accomplish precisely nothing. We are literally back to square one, or perhaps even a step behind that, since Optimus doesn't remember a damn thing. I get the feeling these episodes are only here to set up some sort of Deus Ex Machina that'll annoyingly pop up later in the hopefully otherwise awesome rest of the season.
The Eradicon thing really bothered me too, though more from a 'wtf, this is completely OOC' view than anything. Vector Sigma was very blah; the episode from the point of Jack entering Vector Sigma on was extremely rushed, imho. And Starscream just disappearing off the face of the earth yet again is starting to get annoying. After all his involvement in the first part of season one, he just disappears; we find out here that he's basically been doing nothing all this time, and now I assume he's back to doing nothing. That doesn't scream 'the show's writers are just reminding us of this guy we're holding in reserve for another huge Deus Ex Machina later, okay time for him to leave until he's necessary as a plot device again!' to me at all, nope. /sarcasm (On that note, I do hope Knock Out's sample of synthetic energon hasn't been forgotten.)
I did however like that Miko didn't randomly run through any ground bridges this episode, the Insecticon was rather scary, and Ratchet is still as sarcastically awesome as ever.
