I think it's a really positive trend that we're seeing more strong-characters-that-are-also-female, especially in movies like this! But yeah, they're still being shoved into relationships that don't make sense! It happened to Uhura in the New Trek movie too, so it's not just a comic-book movie thing-- the minute she and Spock had their little thing, she basically disappeared from the movie. What the hell?
